Cette convention je l’ai voulu différente, non pas pour concurrencer les grosses conventions internationales, mais pour permettre aux tatoueurs d’enfin prendre du temps pour s’amuser, passer du temps entre eux, venir pour une fois en famille et, je l’espère, rendre le tatouage plus accessible aux non-initiés dans un événement à taille humaine.

Le Cantal et le tatouage voilà un cocktail qu’on imagine se mélanger comme l’huile et l’eau…

Et pourtant j’ai eu la surprise de me rendre compte que, contre toute attente, le monde du tatouage attendait, rêvait de cette bouffée d’oxygène que le Cantal a à lui offrir.

Loin de l’affolement et du stress des grandes conventions dans les mégalopoles du monde entier. Et que le Cantal espérait un événement hors normes, qui montrerait ce magnifique département dans un autre secteur que celui de l’agriculture ou du tourisme vert.

C’est donc une belle rencontre qui va s’effectuer, sous le soleil nous l’espérons, mais quoiqu’il en soit avec la bienveillance des cantalous et la curiosité des tatoueurs et des tatoués.

L’accueil fait à ce projet par les professionnels a pulvérisé la plus inavouée de mes espérances.

Les tatoueurs ont été immédiatement emballé par le concept (comme les montre la liste d’attente) et les gens de Chaudes-Aigues et plus généralement de la région m’ont vraiment soutenu et encouragé.

What are the odds that tattooing and the magnificent region of Cantal could go in the same sentence? It's true that the two mixing harmoniously seems as likely as oil and water… But much to my surprise, I came to realize that the tattoo world is looking forward to taking a vacation and a big breath of fresh air in Cantal; a special place far away from the frenetic pace of conventions in the big cities. I found out that the region was also yearning for a chance to host an event outside of the norm; something that doesn't have to do with agriculture or ecotourism.

A great gathering is about to take place under the Cantal sun; we'll pray for sun. We may not be able to control the weather, but the event will be welcomed by all Cantalous, and promises to be a real treat for tattoo enthusiasts and pros alike.

I set out to organize a different kind of convention but my goal wasn't necessarily to compete with large, international gatherings. Instead, I wanted to give tattoo artists a chance to get away and have fun among their peers; to come to the event with their family and, as is my hope, to open the doors to the world of tattooing for beginning artists.

The tattoo community has received our project with an enthusiasm that has far exceeded our wildest dreams and expectations.

Tattoo artists have embraced the concept with enthusiasm (so much so that we had to create a waiting list), and the people of Chaudes-Aigues and its surroundings have been very supportive all along.

I have dreamed up this convention and have poured all my heart in making it a reality…
